Catherine "Cathy" Lynn Kirkpatrick, age 73 of
Glendive, Montana peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 with her husband Gary at her side. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Avis Anderson officiating. A reception will follow in the church basement. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Cathy was born on October 18, 1951 to her parents Olaf and Doreene (Nesbit) Haugan in Harlowton, Montana. She grew up in Martinsdale, Montana and was educated in White Sulfur Springs, Montana where she graduated high school with the class of 1969. Cathy continued her education at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana and later finished her education at Dawson Community College in Glendive where she graduated with the class of 2023 and was proud to give the eighty-first commencement speech.
Cathy was united in marriage to her soulmate and best friend Gary Kirkpatrick on July 20, 1974 in Billings, Montana and to this union two daughters were born. Cathy worked numerous jobs during her life, including owning her own realty business, Kirkpatrick Properties, she worked in the United States Senator's Office and also Glendive Medical Center to name a few.
Cathy enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening and also baking and sewing. She had a very strong faith in our Lord and Savior and had many bible quotes throughout her home. Cathy left her fingerprint all over the community of Glendive, which she loved very much. She had many titles during her life, but her best titles were that of wife, mother and Grandma Cathy. Cathy leaves behind a beautiful legacy, her greatest legacy that is left is her family. She will be fondly remembered by her great laugh and the beaming smile that never left her face.

Mom's light shined ever so bright, she inspired us all..we will not forget and all look forward to seeing her again. Everyone leaves a Legacy.Be it love, honesty, compassion, grace, grit, hard work.Mom left a great legacy. Mom is at peace with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her father, Olaf Albert "Babe" Haugan and her brother Michael "Mike" Haugan.
Cathy is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Gary Kirkpatrick of Glendive; two daughters, Jenny (Scott) Ree of Wibaux, Montana and Jill (Shawn) Wilcox of Glendive; seven grandchildren, Jersi (Trenton), Wyatt, Jaelin, Will, Koby, Mari and Huxley; her mother, Doreene Nesbit; two sisters, Linda (Joe) McGinnis of Billings, Kim (Rusty) Matthews of Pell City, Alabama; one brother, Kevin (Robin) Haugan of Big Timber, Montana and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials in Cathy's name are suggested to the Glendive Community Cancer Fund or the Zion Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
