Bonnie Ruth Banner passed away peacefully, September 18th, 2024, with her family by her side. Bonnie was known as Nana to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. After 23 years apart, Nana is reunited with her beloved daughter Kristi. Bonnie also joined her four sisters (Ann, Cleo, Beth and Patricia), her mother and father (Isabel and Wilford Phelps) and many other close family members and friends. Bonnie is survived by her brother and sister-in-law (Steven and Vicki Phelps), children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Ashley, Jon and Jade Dovidauskas; Deborah and David Pyper; Kasey, Jessica, Ryker and Sage Pyper; Samantha, Range and CJ Nielsen and Kayden Lozano; Carrie, Gary, Riley and Isabelle Davis, all whose lives she enriched with warmth and love.
Bonnie is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as Nana. Nana’s strength, kindness and unwavering spirit touched all who knew her. Nana was known for her infectious sense of humor and her ability to light up a room with warmth and kindness. She would listen intently to every word. Though she has left this world, her legacy will forever live on in the hearts of her family.
Bonnie instilled in her family courage, caring and independence. Mom shared more love with her family and friends than can be put into words. Mom was the ultimate cheerleader whether it be attending her great grandson’s baseball games, watching football or lifting our spirits.
We want to thank the many wonderful people from Truewood by Merrill Cottonwood. Although Bonnie was there for a short time she made many wonderful friends. We also want to thank the wonderful people at City Creek Acute Rehabilitation for their loving care and friendship. Bonnie could be found outside hanging with her friends enjoying the sunshine and sharing stories. She was determined to get herself outside either by walker or maneuvering herself in a wheelchair after her hip replacement. Thank you to the amazing doctors and nurses that cared for Bonnie the number of times she visited Intermountain Emergency the past few months. A special thanks to the emergency responders and the 911 team on July 24 that revived Bonnie to allow us a few more weeks.
