Bonnie Joan Blackmer of Cedar Rapids IA joyfully went to meet her maker on March 19, 2025 (just 4 days before her 90th birthday) in Newton, IA.
Bonnie was born on March 23, 1935, in Oelwein to Ronald and Bethel Goldsberry. After she received the necessary guidance to a happy life, Bonnie met and married Walter C. Blackmer on September 5th, 1953. Bonnie and Walter enjoyed traveling as often as possible until Walter's passing in May of 1999 after 46 years of marriage. Bonnie enjoyed working and flourished as a bookkeeper at Roth Jewelers in Waterloo for many years. All while raising her two sons Randy (Eric) of El Paso, TX and Doug (Tina) of Newton, IA. Bonnie was an avid lover of the casino and the slot machines loved her back all while sporting a fresh hairdo and beautiful manicure. In her later years, Bonnie enjoyed "Wheel of Fortune" and her favorite pastry "lemon drops" with a cup of black coffee before going to bed.
Bonnie's legacy continues in the lives of her sons and grandchildren Troy, Corey (Jaci), Kari (Andrew), Audra (Justin), Alicia (James), and Casey. Fifteen Great-grandchildren (by birth and by marriage) and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The many nephews and nieces of which Bonnie always thought of fondly.
Bonnie's siblings: Fred Goldsberry (beat her to the finish line in 2014). Remaining: Marion, Judy (Chuck), Richard (Pauline), Robert (Pauline) and special sister-in-law Phyllis from Faribault, Minn rejoice in the promise to be reunited with Bonnie when the time comes.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 24, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM, Monday, March 25th at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Interment will be at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, IA.
