Bonnie Jean Eide, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on January 23, 1935, in Preston, MN, to proud parents Henry and Selma Olstad. Bonnie was a vibrant force of nature who brought joy and laughter to everyone around her.
Bonnie graduated from Chatfield High School and met her lifelong love, Darwyn Eide, during their school years. The couple exchanged vows on August 28, 1953, at the Chatfield Lutheran Church, beginning a wonderful journey together. They shared a life filled with love in Rochester before relocating to St. Charles, where Bonnie became affectionately known as the "Queen of the Neighborhood."
Bonnie dedicated over 20 years to her work at Sears, but her true passion lay in bringing people together. Always organized and equipped with a multitude of sticky notes, she was the planner behind countless events and parties. Her quick wit, teasing nature, and kindness made every gathering a delight. Bonnie was known for her unwavering love and acceptance, treating everyone like family, and celebrating special moments with her signature rendition of "Happy Birthday."
An avid card player, bowler, and golfer, Bonnie also spent six months of the year in Florida, where she kept her golfing skills sharp. Beyond her own children, she became a mother figure to many others, always with a warm smile and open arms. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and community bonds that will be felt for generations.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 71 years, Darwyn Eide; children, Steven Eide (Karen), Shari Paulson (Lynn Kester), Linda Hanson (Dave), Renae (Brett) Joyce, Robert (Robin) Eide; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and brother Harley Olstad.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Norlan and Merlin Olstad; twin sister, Betty Tart; six older siblings who died in their early years; daughter-in-law, Michelle Eide; and son-in-law, Dennis Hanson.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles, MN from 10am to 12pm. Memorial Service will be at 12pm following the visitation led by funeral celebrant, Jenny Hoff. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, MN.
