Bonnie Gay Duggins Hackett, 75, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Winston-Salem, NC.
Bonnie was born on August 4, 1950, in Winston-Salem, NC, to John Edward Duggins and Ruth Iona Varker Duggins. She graduated from Parkland High School and took courses at Miller-Motte Business College. Bonnie worked as a sales associate for many local stores, including Harris Teeter.
She loved writing poems, reading, and working on crossword puzzles. Chocolate had a special place in her heart. One of her favorite activities was watching her court television shows, especially Judge Judy, and game shows, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, with her son.
Bonnie lived her life in accordance with her personal motto, “Everyday is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.” She was a loving and protective mother until her final days.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, John E. Duggins, Bobbi Makous, Raymond Leroy Duggins, and Brenda Duggins Hoilman. She is survived by her son, David Hackett and daughter-in-law, Luci Hackett, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Forest Hill Memorial Park, 1307 W Old Hwy 64, Lexington, NC 27295. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
