Bonnie Gail (Russell) Knupp departed this life on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Bonnie was born on April 2, 1935 in Winchester, VA the daughter of the late Roy and June Russell. She graduated from James Wood High School in the first full 4 year class in 1954 and was on the cheerleading squad. Bonnie accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was an active member of Old Bethel Methodist Church, where she enjoyed making apple butter. She loved watching NASCAR with her son Russell. Bonnie also enjoyed baking, crocheting, quilting and listening to bluegrass music. Most of all she enjoyed socializing with friends and family.
Bonnie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Richard Rodney Knupp, Sr. whom she married on August 21, 1955. He preceded her in death in 1999.
She leaves to cherish her memories, son, Randall "Randy" Knupp; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Cupp, Mary Lou Huffman, brother, Justice Roy Russell, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and Sharon, who was like a daughter to her.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, husband; sons, Richard "Rocky" Rodney Knupp, Jr., Russell L. Knupp, Ronald A. Knupp, 5 great-grandchildren and sister Minnie Nesselrodt.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 9am to 5pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bonnie to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, VA 22601.
