Reid was born in 2005 to David Edward Marker and Brooke Nicole Blackwell in Winchester. He was a 2023 graduate of Sherando High School where he played football and was the life of the party. Reid proudly served our country in the United States Army from 2023-2025 at Fort Drum as an E31B Military Police Officer. During his distinguished service, he completed two deployments and was awarded the Order of Marechaussee Steel Award for professionalism, high standards of integrity and morality, and esprit de corps. He was soon to be promoted to Military Police Investigator (MPI).
Reid enjoyed fishing, hunting, hockey, trucks, motorcycles, dirt bikes, bonfires, and being outdoors. He loved being with his family and friends and would do anything for anyone. Reid had an infectious laugh, the heart of a lion, and the gentleness of a lamb. He never met a stranger, loved ice cream, and the ocean. His bear hugs were unmatched. Above all else, Reid had a very deep faith and love for Jesus.
In addition to his parents David and Brooke, Reid is also survived by his brothers and best friends, Mason David Marker of Harrisonburg and Langdon Blackwell Marker of Stephens City, maternal grandparents, Dickie and Rita Blackwell of Winchester and his paternal grandparents, Barrie and Dolores Marker of Pittsburgh, along with loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Reid leaves behind a legacy of joy and laughter as he always lived life to the fullest. He will be joined by his childhood dog, Jack-Jack, in heaven.
A visitation will be held for Reid on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from to 2pm to 5pm with a service to be conducted at 5pm, all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. The Reverend Carrie Evans will be officiating. Reid will be laid to rest with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery. Following the service a time of food and fellowship will be held at Fox Meadow Barn.
Pallbearers will be members of the United States Army.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Reid W. Marker Army Scholarship Fund at Sherando High School.
