Bonnie Josephine Sandburg, age 91, passed on September 10, 2025 at 1:34 pm.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her devoted husband Ronald Sandburg (12/10/2021); daughter, Sherry Miller (3/5/2004); sisters, Gloria, Flora Bell, Hazel, and Patricia, and brothers, Charles, Daniel, and Bill.
Bonnie is survived by her grandchildren, Benjamin (Michaela) Miller, Gloria (Rich) Reynolds; son-in-law, Jim (Melinda) Miller; sister, Shirley; brother, Jim, and her great-grandchildren, Aleara, Braelyn, Preslie, Ixchel, and Quinn.
Bonnie was born in Muskogee Oklahoma on July 26, 1934, to Charles William Albertus Lynch III and Bonnie May Lynch. Named after her mother, Bonnie was the 7th out of 10 children. She married the love of her life Ronald K. Sandburg on May 28th, 1954. They were married 67 years. He was a Staff Sargent in the United States Airforce. They gave birth to one child Sherry. Being married to a man in the Airforce her family would travel. They lived in Japan, the Philippines, and all over the United States. Wherever they were one thing was clear, Bonnie would play the organ and Ron and Sherry would sing praises to God. Bonnie finally came to find her home of 53 yrs in Niles, Michigan. While living there, Bonnie taught high school at Clay and Washington in South Bend, Indiana. After she retired, Ron and her traveled all over the United States by motorhome. Bonnie and Ron attended Summit Church in Niles, Michigan. She lived in Niles until 2022 when she moved to Cedarhurst in Mishawaka. Here her love of music and praising the Lord continued where she would play the piano and organ for the other residents there.
Memorial contributions in memory of Bonnie may be made out to Center for Hospice Esther House in Elkhart, Indiana.
Visitation for Bonnie will be on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Funeral Service to be held at 11:00am at Summit Church, 1700 West River Rd. Niles, MI. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved Ron at Smith Chapel Cemetery immediately following the service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
