Bonnie Lou Sparks Thomas, 85, of Owingsville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday morning, August 9, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 9, 1938 in Bath County, Kentucky, to the late Roy Lee Sparks, and Ada Jean Goodpaster Sparks.
Bonnie graduated high school, and would go on to business college. She would begin working for IBM where she worked on selectric type writers.
Bonnie would marry the love of her life, Watson Thomas on a cold winter Saturday in January of 1964. For 59 years, their love would transcend all obstacles that would come their way. Their love will live on through the lives of the ones they touched.
Bonnie enjoyed sewing in her spare time, she was very particular about keeping a neat and clean home. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy, she cherished every moment spent with each of them. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, collecting rooster keepsakes, and taking care of her flowers. Bonnie was also a lifelong member of the Grace Gospel Church.
Survivors include her husband, Watson Thomas, one daughter, Vickie Thomas Evans and her husband, Lee of Owingsville, two grandchildren; T.J. Evans and his wife, Jessamyn of Lexington, Kentucky, and Kyle "Matt" Matthew Evans, of Owingsville, two great-grandchildren, Liam Evans and Aedyn Evans, two special friends; Bonnie Jean Parks, and Barbara Lykins, and several other close relatives and friends that will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Owingsville with Pastor Steve Meadows officiating.
Burial will follow in the Owingsville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday evening, August 11, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be; Terry Harvey, Cody Anderson, Tim Conkright, Dale Sparks, Clifton Sparks, and Roger Sparks.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Hovermale Family and the Parks Family.
All arrangements for Bonnie Lou Sparks Thomas are under the care and direction of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home, 89 Slate Avenue, Owingsville, Kentucky 40360.
