Bonnie J. Thompson, age 73 of Litchfield, MN died on Wednesday February 28, 2024 at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. A Celebration of life will be held from 11:00 am-2:00 pm on Saturday March 16, 2024, at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation Service in Litchfield, MN. A short time of prayer and remembrance will occur at 1:00 pm. In honor of Bonnie’s birthday March 16, cake and light snacks will be available at the funeral home during the visitation. A graveside service will be held at approximately 2:15 at Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield.
Bonnie Jean Thompson, the daughter of John H. and Doris E. (Oberg) Johnson, was born on March 16, 1950, in Litchfield. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1967 and continued her education at the St. Cloud Beauty College. At the age of 20, Bonnie purchased and operated Wilma’s Beauty Salon in Dassel. She was united in marriage to Darold Thompson in Litchfield at the First Baptist Church in 1972 and moved to Herman, MN. In 1988, she returned to Litchfield and operated Bonnie’s Beauty Salon for ten years and later worked at HTI in Hutchinson until her retirement. Bonnie cherished the special relationships she had with her family and enjoyed deer hunting, crafts, flower gardening and decorating. She also attended local stock car races and followed NASCAR, taking trips to watch races at the Atlanta Motor Speedway and Daytona 500.
She is survived by her sisters, Shirley (Donald) Rick and Marlene (Gary) Wilder all of Litchfield. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Roberta Maas, Burton Johnson, Paul Rick, Ryan Rick, Ruth Rick, Jody Robertson, Lisa Anderson, her loving Thompson family and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dean H. Johnson (and his wife Sharon) and brother Lee E. Johnson.
Memorials preferred to Victoryjunction.org. Victory Junction is a camp for kids with serious medical conditions and was established by Kyle Petty’s family in honor of their son Adam who died in a racing accident.
