Bonnie Wickerham Obituary

Bonnie Kay Wickerham, age 83, of Greenville, Michigan, passed away on Good Friday, April 18, 2025 at Corewell Health-Greenville Hospital after a brief illness.

The daughter of Waldo V. & Marguerite (Taylor) Fisher, she was born on September 22, 1941 in Lansing, Michigan. A 1959 graduate of the former Sheridan Agricultural High School, she earned her teaching degree from the Ferris Institute in Big Rapids (now Ferris State University) and also completed coursework at Central Michigan University.

Bonnie began her career as an educator teaching math at Central Montcalm Middle School and retired from running the pre-school program at the First Congregational Church of Greenville after 25 years.

On August 3, 1963, in Sheridan, she married Joseph Lynn Wickerham and together they enjoyed over 61 years of marriage, raised two sons, and were long-time members of the First Congregational Church of Greenville, where Bonnie was a member of the Women's Circle and volunteered in a number of ministries at the church.

In retirement, she and Lynn enjoyed spending the winter months in Ruskin, Florida. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having joined at the Sheridan Chapter and served as Worthy Matron of the Stanton Chapter, which later consolidated with the Six Lakes Chapter.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite Fisher in 1994; by her father, Waldo "Red" Fisher in 2013; step-mother, Dorothy (Bateman) Webb Fisher; her parents-in-law, Joseph & Ruth Wickerham; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Wickerham and Howard Brayton.

Surviving are her husband, Lynn Wickerham of Greenville; their two sons, Brent & Karen Wickerham of Greenville, and Brett Wickerham of Belding; two grandsons, Blake & Colleen Wickerham of Lowell, and Nicholas Wickerham of Belding; two great-grandsons, Holden Wickerham and Beckett Red Wickerham; a brother, Lannie Fisher of St. Johns; siblings-in-law, Eunice Brayton, Floyd & Sue Wickerham, and Arlene Wickerham; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family is from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the First Congregational Church of Greenville, 126 E. Cass Street at Clay Street, Greenville, where memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Rev. Ed Milam, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate and a time of food and fellowship will follow the ceremony in the church hall. Final interment will be in the church columbarium.

While Bonnie enjoyed flowers, she would have been more pleased with donations in her memory to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Rest in peace Bonnie. May God comfort your family at this time of loss. I have known Bonnie for many years she was my seventh grade math teacher in Sheridan she was always a very kind a patient person. I also knew her as a lifelong member of Eastern Star for Sheridan, Stanton and Six Lakes. She showed so much compassion and friendship to my parents and myself whether it was attending a meeting or working a fish dinner or Ox Roast. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

We have many fond memories of Miss Bonnie, especially from when our kids were in her preschool class and as our neighbor with the cool big slide. They´d always want to run over to her house to play. We are saddened by your loss and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Sending hugs, Rick and Tammy and family
