Boyd Julius Christensen, 84, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. He was born October 6, 1938 in Cedar City, Utah, the second child of Herbert Julius and Delphia Zina Jolley Christensen. His sister Merna was born 18 months before him, and his sister Laura joined the family nine years later.

At the age of four, Boyd’s family moved to Ogden, Utah. Boyd attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School Class of 1956, where he was on the football, baseball, and wrestling teams. He took second in State in his division in wrestling, first in the Tri-City meet, and was voted outstanding wrestler in Ogden City. Boyd excelled in wrestling, and was offered many scholarships from many colleges and universities among them being the University of Utah. He attended Weber State College and earned an Associate degree. He later earned a Bachelors degree in Forestry from Utah State University.

Boyd was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a missionary in Finland. Following his mission, he continued serving faithfully in various callings including a scoutmaster, ward clerk, and a temple worker. He joined the Naval Reserves and later went on active duty with the Navy.

In 1963, he met Kay LeAnna Walker and they were married on August 4, 1965 in the Logan Temple. Boyd and Kay lived in Price, Utah and then moved to Richfield, Utah. Their daughter Celeste joined the family in 1968; they had their son Courtney in 1972, who lived for a short five days; and in 1977 they welcomed their baby boy Casey.

Boyd worked as a Forest Hydrologist for the US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking photographs, and reading, especially the scriptures. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Boyd is survived by his children, Celeste Christensen and Casey (Jenni) Christensen; five grandchildren, Hailey (Parker) Lowry, Kyle, Courtney, Cameron, and Kaitlyn Christensen; two great-grandsons, Cooper and Baylor Lowry; and sisters, Merna (Don-deceased) Critchlow and Anna Laura (Gary) Dawson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay; his son, Courtney; and his parents.
