Boyd Dean Jones, age 72, of LaFayette, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025.

He retired from AAA Metals in Dalton and later retired as a bus driver for Choo Choo Tours in Chattanooga.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Basel Jones and Ruby Williams Jones; sister, Faye Deal; and brothers, Alfred Jones and "Red" Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Valerie Shelmon Jones; daughters, Kayla "James" Van Zandt and Anita Gowdy; grandchildren, Eli Green, Brandon Van Zandt, Tad Van Zandt, Rylee Van Zandt, Jaila Coker, and Janae Gowdy; great granddaughter, Aaliyah Green; siblings, Harold "Cotton" Jones, Doris "Spencer" Earnhardt, Virginia Francisco, Linda Cook, Betty Jones, and Ruth Jones; and several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends.

A time of reflection and encouragement for the family and friends of Boyd Dean Jones will be held Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church, 756 Dewberry Road, Rossville, GA 30741. Elder Andre Sharpe, Pastor. All are welcome. Light meal will be served.

Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
