Robert Terry Morgan, 87, of LaFayette, GA, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025 with his daughters by his side. He was born in McComb, Mississippi and graduated from Tupelo High School in Tupelo, Mississippi in 1956. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Mississippi State University in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Frances, in 1960 and they both took teaching jobs in LaFayette the same year. He was both a teacher and a coach at the Walker County School System for seven years and then joined the staff of the Walker County Messenger. Later, he spent 20 years with the Walker County Telephone Company and then as a salesman for Three Rivers Specialty.

He loved being active and was an athlete and lifelong tennis player. In LaFayette, he made decades long friendships, whether from his early careers with the Messenger or the Telephone Company or through his love of sports and tennis, especially The Tennis Group where he was known as the Original TD. In the last several years, he also developed very special friendships with his neighbors in Dogwood Circle who always knew that he had to have the perfect yard.

Terry was predeceased by the death of his parents Woodrow Wilson and Nan Johnston Morgan, and his wife of 59 years, Mary Frances Morgan. He is survived by his daughters "his girls" Terri Lynn Morgan and Lisa Morgan (Bob) Drewry along with grandsons, Rick Drewry and Rob (Elaina) Drewry, sister Gloria Odum, brother-in-law Robert (Betty) Ward and five nieces and nephews.

We are immensely thankful for his incredible neighbors and friends whose unwavering support, daily meals, comforting words, and endless acts of kindness meant the world to us and brightened his final days. The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and caring staff of Hearth Hospice.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Barnabus Episcopal Church, 288 Central Avenue, Trion, GA 30753.

Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
