Bradley A. Simmons, beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 22, 2025, at the age of 56. A celebration of Brad's life will be held soon at the Urich Lions Club from 3:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
Born on August 28, 1968, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Brad was the son of Louis B. "Jim" Simmons and Marilyn Kay Simmons.
Brad is lovingly remembered by his mother Marilyn Kay, daughter Emy; his brother Kent Leonard (Deb, Ma); his niece Deidra Rapp (Tyler), their son Tucker; and great-nephew Andrew Leonard. He is also survived by a large extended family of great-aunts, aunts, uncles, cousins, countless union brothers, and cherished friends.
Brad's vibrant, caring personality left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Known for his big heart and willingness to help anyone in need, Brad was the kind of man who showed up - whether it was cutting wood for someone who couldn't, running errands for older neighbors, or lending a hand on a project no matter how big or small. While he could be a character - and some may have had a love-hate relationship with his larger-than-life presence - everyone agreed: in the end, it was all love.
Affectionately known as Son, Dad, Uncle Brad, UB, or Uncle Bread. Brad also shared his home and heart with his cats, Sissy Cat and Fat Cat. Sissy Cat was particularly special, known for drinking milk out of Brad's glass with her paw - a quirk he found endearing.
Brad was a proud member of Local 101 and worked for JE Dunn. He played a key role in major projects around the Kansas City area, including Sprint City, downtown developments, the Federal Building, and Kauffman Stadium. Even after a life-altering wreck that placed him on disability, Brad remained closely connected to his union brothers - bonds that never faded.
Brad found joy and community attending Lucas Church, where he often participated in services and occasionally helped with children's sermons. He knew his Lord and savior. Brad also had a deep love of food and took great delight in sharing his meals and culinary adventures on Facebook, always eager to showcase the next great bite.
He was preceded in death by his Dad, Jim; his bonus Dad Gary Bishop, his brothers Louis Wayne, Brent Alden, his sister Rebecca Simmons; and his nephew Steven Leonard.
Brad will be deeply missed, but his kindness, humor, and generous spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
