Brad Stanley Thomas, age 71, passed away in his home, unexpectedly, on June 1, 2025.
Brad was the middle child of Frank and Treva (Evans) Thomas. A 1972 graduate of Sylvania High School, he became a gifted carpenter and all-around fix-it man. Brad lived in California for many years before returning to Ohio and settling in the Toledo area. His work with Minol USA took him around the country and everywhere he traveled, he reconnected with family and old friends (always making new ones).
"Batman" Brad had a zest for life! He was a lifetime member at King of Glory Lutheran church, and had a strong faith all his own. With a huge smile, a booming voice, and a contagious laugh, he easily became the life of the party. Christmas wasn't Christmas without peanut brittle. He loved a plate full of spaghetti or a stack of pancakes, and no meal was complete without cookies, and the freezer always had ice cream. He loved riding his motorcycle and hunting, especially with his big brother Todd. A karaoke master, there wasn't a microphone that didn't call to him! He loved reunions of all kinds, high school, family, "the guys", and even the old neighborhood "Grey Box" group. He loved going to the latest movies with his nephews, breakfast with his sister and lunch with his niece. His Dad called him "Charlie", his brother called him Stanley, and friends called him names we won't print
Brad is survived by his children, Kathryn "Katie" Griego, Benjamin (Erin) Thomas, and Danielle (Ty) Lawson; sister, Tracy (Paul) Schmidlin special nephews and niece Eddie (Mary) Ziemke, Jason (Jessica) Ziemke, Erica (Dan) Farley; several grandchildren, 10 great nieces and nephews, and many beloved cousins and cherished friends.
Not to be forgotten, his love and life-long partner of 17 years, Catherine "Katie" Hoag; and her children, April Fulton, John (Jana) Taylor, Jessica Hoag, and Jimmy Hoag. He will be held close in their hearts forever.
Brad was Preceded in death by his parents, Treva (Evans) and Frank Thomas; brother, Todd (Denise Susan) Thomas.
Visitation will be at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6517 Brint Rd. Sylvania, on Wednesday, June 11, from 4 pm to 8 pm. Additional visitation will take place on Thursday, June 12, at 11 am, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm. A luncheon at the Lodge at Strawberry Acres Park, 950 S. McCord Rd. Holland, Ohio, beginning at 1:15 pm.
