It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brandon Robert Farnsworth, who peacefully left this life on December 1, 2025, at the age of 54 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He passed away at his home in West Jordan, Utah, surrounded by those he loved, and was welcomed into his heavenly home by many angels. Brandon was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, grandson and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on September 2, 1971, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Brandon is the first son of Gaylen and Kathleen Smith Farnsworth. Throughout his life, he carried an endless curiosity and a deep love of learning. Whether mastering a new skill or tackling a difficult task, Brandon approached everything with dedication, and hard work.
From 1991 to 1993, Brandon devoted two years of his life to serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Ventura Mission. His time there shaped many of the values he carried throughout his life.
The two greatest days of his life were the day he married his beloved wife, Thuy, in Vietnam on March 12, 2000, and the day their son, Ayden, was born. His family was truly the center of his world. He loved taking them on adventures—discovering new places, attending music concerts, and sharing the interests that brought him joy.
Outside of family life, Brandon devoted his nights to his work with the Utah Transit Authority as a mechanical engineer for the TRAX trains. His family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to his coworkers for their steadfast support throughout his illness.
The family would also like to send their deepest appreciation to Dr. Jonathan Whisenant and the Utah Cancer Center for the many years of compassionate care.
Brandon is survived by his wife, Thuy; his son, Ayden; his parents, Gaylen and Kathleen Farnsworth of South Jordan; his sisters Jill Logsdon (Ted) and Megan Fink (Layne), both of Utah; his brother Jeff (Linnea) of Virginia; as well as six nephews and three nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the South Jordan 5th Ward Chapel, 2550 W. 9800 S., South Jordan, UT 84095. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, December 9, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Rd., West Jordan, UT 84123, and again on Wednesday, prior to the services, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
Because pink was Brandon’s favorite color, we invite everyone to wear a touch of pink to the services in his honor and in support of the family.
