Obituary for Brandon Maurice McDougald

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brandon Maurice McDougald Sr., 37, of Columbus, Ohio, who joined the Lord on September 21, 2025. Brandon was born on February 23, 1988, in Columbus, Ohio, and from the very beginning, he brought joy, laughter, and love to everyone blessed to know him.Brandon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brittny McDougald; his loving mother, Nikki McDougald; his father Craig Harper; grandparents Runell McDougald and Wallace McDougald Jr.; his brother Craig “Wimpy” Banks; and his best friend, Isaiah Thomas.He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Alani Renee McDougald, Braylen Isaiah May, Bryson Keanu Porter, Isaiah Maurice McDougald, and Brandon Maurice “Duece” McDougald Jr. He is also survived by his siblings: Bradley McDougald, Krystal Wallace, Kacia Grant, Khalil Hairston, LaTasha Harper, Latissa Harper, Lanisha Simmons (Brandon Simmons), Shamell Hutchins, and Antwonne Simon Sr; special friend Brittany Truss; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved him deeply.Brandon attended Columbus City Schools and graduated from Beechcroft High School, Class of 2006. From an early age, he enjoyed anime, going to the movies (he loved a matinee), and spending time with family. He had a deep love for music, which he shared with those around him. He was also very knowledgeable with computers and technology, often helping friends and family solve IT issues with patience and skill. Brandon’s life was a true testament to strength and resilience. At a young age, he overcame cancer and the amputation of his leg—challenges he never allowed to define or limit him, as he was a believer of the Lord. Despite these hardships, Brandon lived life fully, known for hosting gatherings and parties that brought people together. Well-dressed and full of style, he carried himself with pride and confidence and was a true lover boy. Above all, Brandon was a devoted father who loved nothing more than spending time with his children and their friends. He was the greatest uncle to his nieces and nephews and always had a house full of children. He was also a protector of his siblings, always looking out for them with love and loyalty. Later in life, he found joy in marriage to his wife Britney, and together they welcomed his youngest son.Brandon will be remembered for his big heart, willingness to help others, and the special bonds he created with those he loved. His contagious laugh and endless sense of humor brightened every room he entered. He had a joke for every occasion and a smile that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.Brandon’s life was a gift, and his presence was a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though his time here was far too short, the love he gave and received, and the joy he brought will live on forever through his children, his family, and the countless lives he touched while on Earth. His legacy is one of resilience, laughter, and unconditional love—a reminder that even in the face of struggle, light can shine so brightly.He will be deeply missed, but forever loved and remembered.
