Brandon O'Delle McKenna, 28, of Elyria, passed away after a lifelong, courageous battle with mental health early Tuesday morning, August 26, 2025. Brandon was born on August 30, 1996, in Oberlin, OH to loving Mother Heather McKenna. Later at 3 years of age John Haessig became his loving Father.
Brandon attended Midview Schools. During high school, he was a dedicated member of the ROTC drill team. He furthered his education at the Lorain County JVS, studying auto body repair and graduated from both in class of 2015.
From the age of 6 until he was 18 years old, Brandon was involved in Scouting, from Cub Scouts to becoming one of the first founding members of Boy Scouts of America Troop 160 lead by Mom, Heather, Dan Burress and Melissa Whitaker where he earned his final rank of Life Scout. Brandon embraced everything that the scouting program had to offer. He excelled in aquatics and was an excellent swimmer. He swam the 5-mile swim in record time while mom, Heather, cheered him on from the dock and fed him Pop-tarts as he swam by for extra energy. Brandon used his skill and talent for swimming and worked for the Fireland Scout Reservation as a lifeguard in the Aquatics department during the 2012 Summer Camp season. Brandon was also a proud member of the Order of the Arrow.
Brandon followed his grandfather, Robert McKenna's footsteps and began his training to become a professional tree climber and worked for High Climber Tree Service in Elyria. He was so proud to work as a tree trimmer as his grandpa did for so many years.
Brandon grew to love everything to do with motorcycles, he was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and was well known in the motorcycle community. He had a wide circle of friends everywhere he went and always the life of a party.
Everyone that knew Brandon will look back and laugh at his ability to blow up everything he touched, rode or drove; although he was always willing to help friends and family wherever and whenever he could.
Brandon had a love for circle track racing. You can find him hanging out with his friends in the pit. He always looked forward to going fishing, especially night cat fishing with his partner in crime, Cody Gump at the Sandusky Bay or any other place the fish called.
His outgoing personality, bright smile, contagious laugh, and "watch this attitude" created lasting memories for those around him. Brandon was both beautiful and wild.
Surviving members of Brandon's family include his mother Heather McKenna, father John Haessig; sister Jazminn Priebe (daughter, Lilliana Priebe); maternal grandmother Janice Hoeppner (Benard); maternal grandfather Robert McKenna; paternal grandparents Hanns and Jalone Haessig; aunt Megan Thurman (John), cuz-uncle of Gabe and John Jr Thurman; uncle Wes McKenna (Cindy Scheutzow-Reed); aunt Suzanne Brooks (Chris) and children Grace, Maddie, and Katelynn; girlfriend Crystal Allen (children Braylan Hyster, Andi Adkins and Everleigh Adkins); a very loving step-mother, Kristina Zimmerman, along with a hosts of great aunts and uncles, and friends he called family.
