Our hearts are deeply saddened by the passing of Brandon Barrett Taylor of Canton, NC, on Sunday, June 22, 2025. We give thanks for the 48 years that we were blessed with his life. He will always be remembered as a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend to so many.
Growing up, Brandon was a member of St Andrews Episcopal Church and later became a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Brandon was born on March 9, 1977, to Gary and Terri Barrett Taylor of Canton, NC. He was a 1995 graduate of Pisgah High School, where he played football and golf. He attended Western Carolina University, where he graduated in 2000 with a BS in Exercise Science.
Brandon's love of golf led him to Baton Rouge, Atlanta, and Charlotte, where he was a golf professional at several different courses. He returned to Canton and joined the Recreation Department, maintaining the Sports Complex and Recreational Park. He was a member of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association of Certified Officials. He was also honored to officiate at the Cooperstown Dream Park in New York. After leaving the Town of Canton Recreation Dept, Brandon returned to golf, turning to the maintenance side, working in Greenville, SC. He returned to Haywood County, where he currently worked at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club. He truly loved working at Waynesville, where he had many friends, including members and fellow workers.
Brandon always said he hoped Heaven had a ballfield or golf course that needed his talents
Brandon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Wilma Mae Taylor, and Bill and Betty Barrett, all of Canton.
Brandon is survived by his parents, Gary and Terri Taylor of Canton; his brother, Curtis and Tessa Taylor of Spruce Pine, and his niece and nephew who were his greatest joy, Maella Grace and Coleman Taylor of Spruce Pine, a very special Godmother, Juanita Dixon of Canton. He will also be greatly missed by his Aunts, Uncles, and many cousins.
Brandon will always be remembered for his "Big Heart and Kindness." The family was proud that he chose to be a Life Share Carolina Donor and gave the gift of life to others through his passing.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30PM on Friday, June 27, 2025, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A private family service will follow.
Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is deeply honored to be caring for the Taylor family.

Brandon was an amazing person and competitor. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to coach him in three sports at Canton Jr. High. Excellent in football, basketball and golf while having such an incredible sports I Q paved the way as Brandon excelled in athletics and in the classroom. He will be dearly missed by many and even more by me. Hopefully he is teeing it up in heaven with every opportunity. Many thanks to Gary and Terri for raising such a fine young man and sharing Brandon with all of us. RIP my friend .
