Sam F. Overman, a lifelong native of Candler, NC, was peacefully promoted to Heaven on August 28, 2025, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Sam was born on April 1, 1952, and lived a fulfilling life characterized by dedication and hard work.

For over 20 years, Sam served as an equipment operator for Public Services Gas of North Carolina, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to his profession and earning the respect of his colleagues. Known for his soft-spoken demeanor and easy-going nature, he was a laid-back man who preferred a quiet life, often keeping to himself.

In addition to his professional life, Sam owned a sawmill and took great pleasure in his time spent outdoors. He found joy in hunting with his hound dogs, tending to his vast garden, fishing, and cutting wood. These hobbies reflected his connection to nature and the simple pleasures of life. Sam was very dedicated to his farm and enjoyed cutting hay, but most of all he loved his family.

Sam is survived by his son, Jonathan Overman, and daughters, Whitney Searcy and Brittney Rathbone. He also leaves behind his sister, Kathy Overman (David), along with three beloved grandchildren who were a source of great pride and joy to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Overman and Mary Lula Cody Overman, his beloved wife Brenda Overman, and his siblings Edward, Jimmy, Howard Overman, and Mary Overman Angel. Their memories will forever remain a part of his legacy.

Visitation for Sam will be held on September 2, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, located at 45 Mt Pisgah Church Rd, Candler, NC. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery at 3PM with officiating by Pastor Ty Allen and Pastor Josh DeHart.

Sam F. Overman's gentle spirit and enduring love for his family will always be remembered, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
