Leo Brandt Nashert, affectionately known as Brandt to his family, friends, and associates, passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 64.
Brandt was born on September 13, 1960, to Mildred ‘Millie’ Ellen and Walter Albert ‘Jack’ Nashert, Jr. He grew up in Nichols Hills, Oklahoma, where he made lasting memories with his siblings and neighborhood friends. Brandt attended Christ the King Catholic School, The Abbey in Canon City, Colorado, and graduated from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. An all-around athlete, he played both football and baseball, and it was during these school years that he formed lifelong friendships he deeply valued.
His athletic talent earned him a baseball scholarship to St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. He later continued his education at The University of Oklahoma. Brandt was proud to carry on the family construction legacy through his work at Nashert Constructors. He went on to found his own company, BNCI Contracting, before joining the Houston-based firm Constructables. A respected leader in the industry, he served a term as President of the AGC Oklahoma Board—an honor he carried with deep pride.
In 1992, Brandt married Tiffiny Winkler Nashert, and while later divorced they remained close friends, united always by their shared love and commitment to raising their son, Jackson Brandt Nashert. Being a father was Brandt’s greatest joy. He especially loved coaching Jackson in soccer and basketball and treasured their many local and national AAU Bearcats basketball tournament trips. Watching him grow into a man and pursuing his dreams, especially now as Jackson studies civil engineering at The University of Oklahoma, was a source of immense pride for Brandt.
Brandt was always known as the life of the party, with a great love of sports, music, and food. He was an avid fan of OU Football, Thunder Basketball, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. He was also an amazing cook and grill master, always ready to provide meals for family gatherings, cookouts, and tailgates. Whether cheering on his favorite teams, enjoying a concert with friends and family, or serving up his famous dishes, Brandt’s infectious enthusiasm and love of life were felt by everyone around him.
Brandt is survived by his son, Jackson; his former wife, Tiffiny Nashert; his brother Walter A. Nashert III and wife Julie; his sister Michele Gatewood and husband Gary; brother-in-law James Dunnagan; and countless nephews and nieces who Brandt truly loved and thought of as his own, along with their spouses and children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Walter A. Nashert, Jr., and his sister Dayna Nashert Dunnagan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10am at St. Joseph Old Cathedral with burial to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation Autoimmune Institute in honor of his late mother, Mildred ‘Millie’ Nashert and the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of his late father, Walter A. ‘Jack’ Nashert, Jr.
Brandt will be remembered for his generous heart, his sharp wit, his deep devotion to family and friends, and the love and laughter he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His legacy lives on in the people he loved and the life he helped build.
