Brandy M. Butala, 47, of Camp Hill, PA passed away on October 10th, 2025, due to natural causes. She was born on October 12th and is preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Patty Butala, and her sweet, loving pit bull, “Fatty”. Brandy is survived by her sister Tammy and Tammy’s husband Tom, and her beloved nieces, Savannah and Vanessa. Although her “blood” family was small, she became an honorary family member to countless friends throughout her life – especially to her “chosen sisters”, Suzanne, Jaime, Becky, Michelle, Tara, Kristen, and Mary.
She was born in Michigan and spent her early childhood in Louisiana. When she was 9 years old, her family relocated to New Cumberland, Pennsylvania where she attended St. Theresa’s Catholic School starting in the 4th grade. She graduated from Trinity High School in 1996. While in high school, she tried out the color guard for one year but decided that those band uniforms weren’t for her. Her real passion was playing on the girls’ soccer team and spending time with friends.
After high school, she attended York College for a short period of time and then got her Associate of Arts degree, specializing in Business Studies from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). Soon thereafter, she found a career working for medical and dental insurance companies, most recently working for Delta Dental since 2017.
Brandy was not only an exceptionally hard working, dedicated and reliable employee, she was also a fiercely supportive and loyal friend to many, known for taking the “shirt off her back” to help a friend (and even did so literally for strangers) in need. She helped her friends with countless moves and was the finest “handy-lady” in town – tackling all the home renovation and chicken coup demolition projects that no one else wanted to deal with. She frequently fought to pay the bar tab and was the most reliable and trustworthy dog-sitter on the East Coast. She would do anything for her friends, even wear a dress and make-up (of course applied by her sister) to their wedding if asked.
She loved her sister, nieces, friends, dogs, silly socks, witty t-shirts, and Miller Lite beer and was often found hanging with friends at local bars. She touched the lives of more people than she realized and will be deeply missed and forever remembered by many.
Her close friends are planning a celebration of life. Date, time and location to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Speranza Animal Rescue in Mechanicsburg, PA
