Bree Schwaller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lampe & Powers Funeral Home - Lake City on Nov. 24, 2025.
Bree Schwaller, a beloved mother, cherished daughter, devoted wife, and dear friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the age of 41. Her vibrant spirit, infectious energy, and unwavering commitment to those she loved will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born on May 9, 1984, Bree's childhood was filled with adventure and strong family ties. She spent countless hours camping and backpacking, and enjoyed fishing in Park Rapids, Minnesota, and traveling with grandparents and cousins. Bree spent many years participating in dance and, in an early display of entrepreneurship, sold Avon alongside her Grandma Betty.

A memorable childhood moment involved a quick-thinking save by her father, Steve, who extinguished Bree's hair after she accidentally set it on fire while preparing a gourmet supper-a story that, like many of Bree's tales, was shared with friends over beers. Her love for fun continued into her high school years at Jefferson-Scranton High School, where she was a cheerleader, a role she never truly outgrew, as she remained the biggest cheerleader for her entire family and circle of friends throughout her life. Her passion for Barbies led to a treasured, hand-made Barbie house crafted by her father, which her daughter Emery now proudly owns. Bree also spent summers at Girl Scout camp as a camper and counselor, sharing her love of the outdoors with others.

Bree and Scott were married on July 1, 2006. They loved each other deeply and produced two incredible children, Emery (9) and Grant (7). Along with their appreciation for a great party with friends, Bree and Scott instilled in them their love of travel, taking family road trips to explore America's National Parks.

Bree was not a "water person" as a child, but after she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Scott, in 2000, she decided to become one. She took swimming lessons, mastered the art of backing a boat trailer, and became the life of the party on the water in Lake View, Iowa, where Scott's family owns a cabin. She was quickly adopted as a local, making lifelong friendships, floating on the lake, and gathering with friends. Bree loved to host family and friends, her favorite event being the Bike Bash Breakfast, where bartender-in-training, Grant, enjoyed making fresh-squeezed lemonades for their many friends.

Bree graduated from Jefferson-Scranton High School in 2002, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Iowa State University in 2006, and later achieved a Master's in Public Health from AT Still University. She began her career in environmental health with EMC Insurance and later transitioned to occupational safety at United Heartland, where Scott also works.

As an adult, Bree developed a love for biking. She spent many summers biking with her friends, trekking across Iowa on RAGBRAI, or her favorite biking experience–cruising through the Florida Keys.

Bree is preceded in death by her grandparents, Grant and Betty Becker, and Tom and Nancy Hogue. She is surely reunited in heaven with her beloved pets: her childhood cat, Tommy, and her dear Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Maggie and Emma.

Bree is survived by her devoted husband, Scott Schwaller; her children, Emery and Grant; her loving parents, Amy and Steve Becker; her parents-in-law Steve and Sherri Schwaller; and a multitude of friends and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.

Bree's family will hold a private viewing, followed by a celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, you're invited to contribute funds to support Emery and Grant's future needs. Donations can be sent to Farmers State Bank in Lake View directed to the the savings account of Emery and Grant Schwaller.
