Brenda Caldwell Doby, born July 7, 1956 in
Houston, TX, passed away on May 22, 2024.
Prior to retirement in 2002, Brenda was a dedicated professional, working as a business office director in multiple hospitals throughout the United States. Brenda was passionate about her yard and flowers and enjoyed birdwatching and arguing with the squirrels in her spare time. She could often be found basking in the warmth of the sun, reading the latest James Patterson novel and reveling in the peace and relaxation it brought her. With a passion for speed, Brenda enjoyed the adrenaline rush of driving fast, whether it was on her beloved Harley or zooming down the road in her car. She also loved sharing laughter with her daughter Tabitha through funny pet videos. Brenda was an amazing woman and will be dearly missed.
Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished her family and was happily married to her husband Jim for 40 years. Together, they formed a blended family that included Brenda's beloved daughter Tabitha from a previous relationship, and Jim's sons Joe and Justin, whom Brenda loved as her own.
A talented athlete in her younger years, Brenda demonstrated prowess as a mean shortstop in softball. She also had a love for music, with a diverse taste ranging from the smooth sounds of Kenny G and Enya to the country twang of Reba McEntire. She especially enjoyed the soulful tunes of Motown, particularly Diana Ross and The Supremes.
Known for her outspoken nature, Brenda never shied away from expressing her opinions or standing up for what she believed in. This stubbornness was a testament to her strong character and convictions.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Jim Doby, her daughter Tabitha Doby and her wife Kristen Olson, her son Joe Doby, his wife Megan Doby, and their children Slone, Frank, and Robert, as well as her son Justin Doby, his wife Adrienne Doby, and their children Elliott and Arlie. She is also survived by her siblings, Jay Caldwell and Pat Caldwell. Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Lois Caldwell.
