Mrs. Brenda Murphy Gary, age 76, of Albertville, Alabama, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee, died Monday, August 25, 2025, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at two o’clock pm at the McRae Funeral Home with Bro. Joey Cannady and Bro. Glen Pankey officiating. Entombment will be in Memphis Memorial Park, Memphis on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be Friday, August 29, 2025, from Noon until service time at the church.
Mrs. Gary was born in Mississippi on July 15, 1949, the eldest daughter of Euell “Pete” Murphy and Charlene Ray Murphy. She was an honors graduate of McAdams High School (Attala County, Mississippi) and attended Holmes Community College in Goodman, Mississippi. Brenda spent most of her working career in Mississippi state government with the Mississippi State Employment Services in Kosciusko MS, the Mississippi Employment Security Commission in Jackson, and Mississippi State University. She met the love of her life in 1982, Tom Gary, who was co-owner of Columbus Nissan, while she was a customer of the dealership. They were married June 30, 1984, at Mississippi State University Chapel of Memories. Shortly after their marriage, Tom joined Bud Davis Cadillac in Memphis where Brenda was employed for ten years with the University of Memphis. Later in his career, Tom joined First Tennessee Bank’s mortgage lending (First Horizon) division. Tom and Brenda enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 40+ years. Upon their retirement in 2009, they moved to Guntersville, Alabama, to enjoy the scenic Guntersville Lake area where they were members of Solitude Baptist Church
Mrs. Gary is survived by her Husband: Tom Gary of Albertville, and a Sister: Cynthia “Micki” Kraker of Columbus, Mississippi, beloved niece and nephew: Mary Grace Kraker Gholston of Starkville, Mississippi and Rob Kraker of Manassas, Virginia, and her great niece: Cecilia Gholson of Starkville, Mississippi. She was preceded by her parents: Euell “Pete” & Charlene Ray.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, 408 Martling Road, Albertville, AL 35951.
