Brenda Kay Hickey

Brenda Kay Hickey, 76, of Bessemer, AL passed away on September 15, 2025.

Brenda was born on March 7, 1949 to Ralph and Margaret Marcum. Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She spent her time taking care of everyone around her. Brenda was a dedicated member of her church, Concord Baptist Church. She taught children's church for over 35 years, and later helped with accounting and historical records. Brenda was also Vice President and Treasurer of the Southern Appalachian Dulcimer Association for many years. Brenda loved to scrapbook, and paint in her free time and would give away anything she made to anyone who wanted it free of charge. Brenda was preceded in death by Ralph Monroe Marcum (Father), Margaret Louise Marcum (Mother), Charles Monroe Marcum (Brother), and Christine Marcum Gill (Niece). Brenda is survived by Walter David Hickey (Husband), Charles Ralph Hickey (Son), Stephanie Annette Hickey (Granddaughter), Ralph Milton Marcum (Brother) and his wife Joy Marcum, and their daughter, Stephanie Marcum Hensley (Niece).

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Concord Baptist Church, 5951 Warrior River Road, Bessemer, AL 35023 beginning at 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM with the service beginning at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Patterson-Forest Grove Memorial Gardens, 1498 5th Ave, Pleasant Grove, AL 35127.
