Brenda Phillips

With a heart full of creative spirit and a mind made for adventure, Brenda Phillips, born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 20, 1943, has taken her final journey. It seems fitting that a woman who lived life with such gusto and verve should have been born on a spring day, when the world is coming back to life. Brenda, our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, left us on July 25, 2023, but her vibrant spirit and cheeky sense of humor will live on in those of us lucky enough to have known and loved her.
Brenda was a woman of many talents and interests. She was a medical assistant by trade, working tirelessly in the medical industry, but her true passion lay in the creative endeavors she pursued outside of work. She could often be found huddled over her sewing machine, crafting intricate doll clothing, or in her garden, her hands deep in the soil, coaxing life from the earth. She was a dedicated beekeeper, a maker of candles, and a creator of fly-fishing hooks - a testament to her adventurous spirit. As the saying goes, "The world is but a canvas to our imagination," and Brenda filled her canvas with color and life.
Brenda is survived by her loving family, daughter Kristen Morrison, her grandchildren Jolynn (Brian) Thayer and Jakob Morrison, and her great-grandchildren Owen, Leah, Ryker, and Keegan. They, along with her sisters Diane, Andrea, Shirlyn, and Carol, will remember her not just as a dedicated family woman and creative soul, but also as a bit of a jokester, with a mischievous smile and eyes that lit up at the sight of her grandkids. She is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Naomi, and her brother, Brent.
Brenda's adventurous spirit, compassionate heart, and dedicated nature will be missed by all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of family, creativity, and of course, a good joke. As we remember Brenda, let's keep in mind her favorite quote, "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years."
