Brenda Oliver Reader, a woman of faith, service, and unwavering love, entered eternal rest on September 27, 2025, in Clovis, New Mexico. She was 70 years old.
Born on April 6, 1955, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Verder Lee Oliver and Johnny O'Neal, Brenda carried the values of family, faith, and generosity with her throughout her life. Those who knew her will remember her radiant smile, steady presence, and a heart that gave freely to all.
On March 11, 1975, Brenda married her lifelong partner, H. Charles Reader. For 50 years, they built a marriage defined by partnership and joy.
Brenda dedicated her life to service; she spent 24 years in the United States Air Force, followed by nearly two decades as a civil servant. She carried herself with dignity and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on every community she touched.
Outside of her professional service, Brenda poured her time and energy into her church home, where she was a member for more than 20 years. She was a tireless volunteer, a faithful giver, and a source of encouragement to many. Her belief in lifting others up was not just something she spoke of it was how she lived.
Her family was her greatest pride and joy. Brenda is survived by her loving husband, H. Charles Reader; daughter Anaka Hudson; son Charles D. Reader and his partner Eric Hernandez; grandchildren Kiana Hudson, Zhamal Hudson (Tabitha), and Wayne Hudson; and great-grandchildren Annalise Hudson, Amelia Hudson, and Allastar Hudson. She is also survived by her sisters Gwendolyn Royal Miller (Mason) and Pamela Tucker; brothers Michael Oliver (Joanne), Alvin Oliver, and Melvin Oliver; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored her, including members of the Oliver, Weaver, and O'Neal families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Verder Lee Oliver and Johnny O'Neal; her sister
Debra; and her brother Gerald.
Brenda will be remembered as a woman of strength and compassion, whose love was felt across generations. Her life was a testament to faith, resilience, and generosity.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 3rd at 10 am at Legacy Church at 3401 N. Norris St, Clovis, NM 88101.
