Brendan Anthony McPartland

Closter - Brendan Anthony McPartland, affectionately known as "Pop", went peacefully to his heavenly reward at 1:49 PM on Wednesday October 29th in Englewood Hospital at the age of 65. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Kathleen McPartland (nee McCullough), his five children – Colleen (husband Michael), Francis, Abaigeal (husband Peter), Thomas, and Peter.
Brendan loved being a Grandfather more than anything, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren Nicholas, Liam, Alivianna, Luca, and Anthony who lovingly referred to him as "Gramps".
He was born in Teaneck on May 30th, 1960 to Alyce Elizabeth and Joseph Francis McPartland as the 8th of 9 McPartland Brothers from Norwood. He graduated from St. Joseph's Grammar School in Demarest followed by Bergen Catholic High School, class of '78, in Oradell where he was a part of Bergen Catholic's first All-County Championship ice hockey team when they defeated Don Bosco.
One of Brendan's most beloved attributes was his passion for work and being a consummate professional. Throughout his career he obtained Electrical Licenses from NJ and White Plains, NY and started working for IUOE Local 30 at the IBM Facility in White Plains, where he was able to also get his Refrigeration License. From there he started working directly for Local 30 as the Assistant Director of Apprentice Training, then moved on to Dispatcher before becoming a Business Representative. While in this position he proudly took on the role of Vice President of Local 30 which he held admirably and in great regard until he retired.
He was a man of strong moral character, scrupulously following the letter, spirit, and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. He was an avid golf player, ice hockey player, integral member of the Closter Elks for 29 years, a great friend, and most importantly of all, a devoted family man. Living his life as a man of great integrity he was there for anyone who needed advice or a helping hand, always having a spot for anyone at his table no matter how full it may have been.
Pop will be missed dearly by all who knew him. And he surely will not be forgotten.
