Brent Merlin Bastian, age 83, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on December 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Brent was born on October 1, 1942, in Preston, Idaho, to Merlin and Christie Bastian. From an early age, he learned the values of hard work, integrity, and devotion to family—principles that guided his life.
He married Helen Atkinson, and together they shared 60 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, love, and family. Brent was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather whose greatest joy was time spent with those he loved. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and their children: Lesa Whitehead (Curtis), Bruce Bastian (Leslie), Brian Bastian, Kristie Bowers (Cory), Amber Riding (Jesse), Amanda Bastian, and Brandon Bastian (Sarah), along with many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense happiness.
Brent worked for 48 years as a pharmacist, a profession that reflected his dedication to caring for others. He was known for his steady patience, dry sense of humor, unforgettable belly laugh, and deep love for his family. He especially enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, side-by-side adventures, long “billy-goat” rides, and any opportunity to be surrounded by family.
Brent was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Texas and faithfully served in many callings, including Bishop, High Councilman, Ward Clerk, Ward Missionary, and diligent minister. His life was a quiet testimony of service, faith, and devotion to the Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held Jan 3 at 1:00 p.m. with a viewing being held Friday, January 2, from 5:00–7:00 p.m at 480 North 100 West, Hyde Park, Utah and again Saturday, January 3, from 11:30 - 12:30.
Brent will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. His family is grateful for the assurance that, through Jesus Christ, they will see him again.
