Stephen "Brent" Farley, 61 of Jena, Louisiana won his battle with ALS and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 18, 2023. He spent the last 8 ½ years fighting a disease called ALS. This disease slowly, day-by-day, robbed him of his physical abilities but, he never stopped fighting.
Brent was born on February 23, 1962, in Alexandria, Louisiana to the union of Raymond Eugene Farley, Sr. and Rita Imelda Lees Farley.
He spent his adult life working as an oilfield mechanic for Hunt Petroleum Corporation/XTO Energy. He was devoted to his job 100% until ALS took that ability from him. He loved all of his co-workers very much. He served on the LaSalle Parish Police Jury for Ward 9. He did his absolute best to try to please everyone in his ward. Brent was a member of the Michael Dempsy Masonic Lodge, he was proud and honored to be a Shriner. Brent was a people person who NEVER met a stranger. He spent his off-time cooking for people and taking care of others. That was his biggest hobby. He loved to hunt and fish, well actually he loved the boat ride he cared nothing about the fish, that was just his excuse He was a person who loved to GO. It didn't matter where, he was ready 24/7.
Brent is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Eugene Farley, Sr. and Rita Lees Farley, his sister Nona Farley Davidson, brother-in-law Charles Davidson, and his brother Raymond Eugene "Gene" Farley, Jr.
Brent was a loving husband, father, and Pa. His family was his heart. Those left to cherish his memory and miss him are his wife of almost 23 years, Reacey Graham Farley, two sons Ryan Farley of Jena and Zayde Farley of Jena, two grandchildren, Wesson Farley and Milah Kate Norris, and two bonus grandchildren Camille Grant and Harper Grant.
As per Brent's request, there will be no specific pallbearers. Instead, his family members will take him to his final resting place. His comment was he had way TOO many friends to choose from. There again showing his love for others by not leaving anyone out. He left a note to you all saying, "Thanks for being a call away." He also left a special Thank You to David Graham for always being "on call."
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 pm at Nebo Baptist Church on Monday, November 20, 2023, and then on Tuesday morning until the time of services. Service will be on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Nebo Baptist Church with Dick Zeagler, Rev. Mark Breland, and Rev. Carl Gulde officiating.
