Brett was born on March 5, 1966, in LaPorte, IN to Linda (Peterson) Benwell and James Gouker.
Brett married Kari Lawhorn on February 3, 1994, in Mishawaka.
Brett worked at DAC Enterprises in Plymouth. He loved Nascar and going to local races in Plymouth, New Paris, and South Bend. He was a sports fan, loved IU sports, the Chicago Cubs, and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to hunt in his younger years. He was a simple man who loved his family and worked hard to provide for them.
Brett is survived by his wife; Kari Gouker, his mother; Linda Benwell, his daughter; Jenna Gouker, his son; James Gouker, his brother; Bart (Erin) Gouker, and his stepsister; Dawn Benwell.
Brett was preceded in death by his father; James Gouker.
A time for memorial visitation will be held from 4pm-7pm on Monday September 23, 2024, at the Palmer Funeral Home-North Liberty Chapel, 202 N. Main St. North Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with final expenses; Palmer Funeral Home c/o Brett Gouker 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN 46614.
