Brett Alan Mast, 51, of Emporia, KS, died Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
He was born June 8, 1972, at Kansas City, MO, the son of Jay Kay and Mary Lou (Steel) Mast. The family moved to Burlington in 1979 and Brett attended the Burlington schools where he participated in football, baseball, wrestling, and basketball before graduating from Burlington High School in 1990. He was an excellent athlete and played football for two years while attending Independence Junior College in Independence, KS. He then attended Kansas State University and then Heritage College in Wichita where he earned a degree in Occupational Studies, X-Ray Medical Technology and was a Registered Medical Assistant. He had worked outages at Wolf Creek Generating Station, at Axtell Clinic in Newton, KS, Kan-Seal at Burlington. He had been employed as a case manager for CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness since 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Douglas Mast in 2019; and grandparents, Orville and Luella Steel and Maurice and Anita Mast.
He leaves two brothers, Michael and Jerry Mast, of Burlington; two nephews, Taner and Dawson Mast; bonus brother and sister, Mark and Terrie Griffith; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington.
The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to God's Storehouse and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
A Celebration of Brett's Life will be held on his birthday, June 8, 2024, at 3:00 P.M., at Mark and Terrie's home, 1022 8th Rd, Burlington, KS 66839. It will be a pot-luck dinner. Bring a Coke Zero to solute a good man.
