Brett Wells Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Feb. 16, 2026.
Brett A. Wells, age 63, a longtime resident of Warrenville, IL, passed away on February 10, 2026 at Central DuPage Hospital, Winfield, IL. He was born on August 11, 1962 in Chicago, IL.

Brett is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 31 years, Kathryn (nee Chase); his loving children, Allyson Taylor, Bryan Wells, Bradley Taylor, Melissa Renas, and Tenleigh Wells; his cherished grandchildren, Wesley Taylor, Aryelle Taylor, Everly Piorkowski, Kristofer Goddard, Brennon Wells, and Charlie Renas; his dear siblings, Mark Wells, Todd Wells, Jon Wells, and Jacki Barron; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John "Jack" Wells and Jean (nee Drehobl) Wells, and his brothers, Glenn Wells and Scott Wells.

Brett was raised in Carpentersville, IL. Graduated from Dundee Crown HS, Class of 1981. He enlisted in the Navy in June of 1981, and sailed the world on the USS Nimitz until April of 1988. He left the military in pursuit of fatherhood and became a Jack of many trades. From being a mechanic, electrician, teacher and trainer at Brabazon. He turned a wrench for a variety hobbies; such as volunteering at Acorn community theater, Calvary church, and others. He had aspirations to build a hydroponic farm, however he always put his dreams aside to help others, as his biggest goal was always to be the best dad and family man he could be. If anyone asked for anything he would be the first to respond. Time made no difference, day or night, he was there. He was our firefighter, roadside assistance, chauffeur, cheerleader, audience member, brother-in-arms, the list is literally endless. He is and always will be our true Superhero!

Visitation will be Thursday, February 19, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Family will share memories at 6:00 PM. Family and friends will meet for the final committal services on Monday, February 23, 1:30 PM at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Please arrive 15 minutes prior for assembly.
