Brian Backowski Obituary

Brian L. Backowski, 71-year-old resident of Flensburg, MN, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025 peacefully with his family at his side at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Caring for Brian and his family is the LeMieur Funeral Home in Little Falls, MN.

Brian was born on December 20, 1953, to the late Patrick and Genevieve (Goodman) Backowski. He was raised on the family farm near Flensburg, where he learned the value of hard work. A 1973 graduate of Little Falls Community High School, Brian spent the following summer working for a major resort on Lake of the Woods. He received many accolades from fishermen who enjoyed great success under his guidance on the lake. Brian later returned home to take over the family farming operation, dedicating the remainder of his life to the land and the work he loved. Known for his big heart and generous spirit, Brian shared freely with those around him and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his siblings, Bruce Backowski of Flensburg, MN, Nancy Backowski of El Cajon, CA, Neil (Jennifer) Backowski of Conroe, TX, Steven (Michelle) Backowski of Little Falls, MN, Jay (Emily) Backowski of Sauk Centre, MN, and Amy (Scott) Kirkhoff of Stanchfield, MN; along with 10 nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Genevieve Backowski, and his nephew, Andrew Backowski.
