Brian J Banas, 54, of Milford, passed away on October 8, 2025. Born on September 25, 1971, in New Haven, he was the son of Joseph Banas and the late Dolores (Zaledonis) Banas. Along with his father, Joseph Banas, Brian is survived by his sister, Jennifer Flake; his nephew, Tyler Flake; his aunt and uncle, Ronald and Mary Ann Zaledonis; as well as many cousins and lifelong friends.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Brian began his education at St. Mary School, attending from kindergarten through 8th grade. He graduated from Jonathan Law High School in 1990, where he began to shape the strong work ethic that would guide him through life. He earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of New Haven in 1995 and went on to serve the State of Connecticut with honor as a parole officer for over 20 years before retiring. His commitment to justice and fairness left a lasting mark on the lives of those he worked with.
Outside of work, Brian lived life fully and fearlessly. A black belt in Tae Kwon Do, he approached everything with discipline and heart. He had a deep love for old-school TV, especially Columbo reruns, and could often be found relaxing with a classic episode.
Brian was a skilled and dedicated pool player, actively participating as a member of the APA. He qualified for and competed in the national competition held in Las Vegas, an esteemed achievement that he regarded highly. His passion for speed and power extended to his love for muscle cars and NASCAR, and his annual trips to Daytona were sacred traditions. Among his favorite drivers were Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott, whose races he followed with enthusiasm and joy.
While Brian had numerous interests, his foremost commitment was to his family and friends. He was known for his generous spirit, approachable demeanor, and ability to foster a lively atmosphere in social settings. Whether you knew him for decades or just a short while, he left an impression that won't be forgotten.
