Brian Benson, 46, of Scotch Plains, NJ, passed away suddenly on September 17, 2025, in a tragic car accident.

Born in New York and raised in Mountain Lakes, Brian was a proud graduate of Rutgers University. He built a distinguished career in medical device sales, beginning with Bausch and Lomb Johnson & Johnson and most recently with RxSight. Over nearly two decades, Brian earned the respect of colleagues and physicians alike for his expertise, professionalism, and passion for improving patients' vision and overall eye health.

What mattered most to Brian were his family and friends. He had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome and at home; whether spending time at his "happy place," Ship Ahoy Beach Club, or hosting gatherings to watch the game. Brian was truly the life of the party.

Deeply involved in the Scotch Plains community, Brian coached baseball and soccer and was an active supporter of the local public schools. Known for his humor, warmth, and generosity, he kept everyone laughing with his quick wit and spot-on impressions.

Brian was a devoted sports fan; cheering for Rutgers, the Yankees, Knicks, and Giants; and a lifelong music lover. He proudly shared his favorite bands, from The Beatles to The Clash, with his children, nurturing their own love of music.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Oliver, and his brother, Russell. He is survived by his loving wife, Jaime (Panzella) Benson, and their three children, Molly (11), Russell (8), and Jack (6); his mother, Marie Benson; his parents-in-law, James and Madeline Panzella; his brother- and sister-in-law, Garin and Kris-Ann (Panzella) Bulger; and his beloved nephew, Connell. He also leaves behind countless friends who will miss his big personality, infectious laughter, unwavering loyalty, and endless love.

A visitation celebrating Brian's life will be held Sunday, September 21, from 2–6 PM at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, NJ. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 22, at 10am, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church on Westfield Ave. in Scotch Plains.
