Herbert Akiva Ribner, 97 of Fanwood, New Jersey died in Corning, New York surrounded by family on 8/31/2025.

Herb was born in Brooklyn on August 29,1928 to Mollie and George Ribner, a younger brother to his loving sister Florence.

Herb attended Yeshiva occasionally sneaking out with his yarmulka in his pocket to have a hotdog at Nedick's for lunch. He joined the US Army Signal Corps 1st District Area of Command in 1951 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering at City College of New York. Upon graduating in 1957 he went to work for Merck and Company and retired from Merck in 1993. One of the highlights of his 36 year career was being honored with the Chairman's Award for his significant and long-lasting contributions as an engineer, ambassador and mentor.

Herb met Mira Schlieps on a double date. Marrying her in 1956. Herb loved, admired and adored Mira for all their 69 years of marriage. Upon retiring Herb and Mira travelled extensively to many corners of the world.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents Mollie Chill and George Ribner and his sister Florence Raffaele (Thomas), and is survived by his wife Mira, daughters Renata Brenner (Arthur), Karen Hrycyna (Walt), Andrea Herrmann (John), his son George Ribner (Sharon) his grandchildren Kathy Matarazzo (Sarah), Cassandra Miller, Jennifer Hushen (Tom), Corey Miller (Malinda), Christine Park (Jin), Melissa Herrmann, Garrett Ribner, Gianna Ribner and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation and Funeral services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home 155 South Ave, Fanwood, NJ 07023 on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, with a service beginning at 12.

Interment will follow at 1:00PM at Hillside Cemetery 1401 Woodland Ave, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076
