VINTON: Brian Scott Bratten, 62, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following multiple medical issues.
Brian was born August 26, 1962 in Oelwein to Emil and Joyce (Grantham) Bratten. Brian grew up in Vinton, where he attended Washington High School and was a member of the wrestling team. Brian had worked at Fareway grocery store. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Thomas (Chey Anne) Sorum; stepdaughter, Brooke Mask; grandchildren, Ethan, Thomas, Landon, and Hanna Rae; 3 siblings, Emil "Butch" Bratten, Dawn (Dave) Glasbrenner, and Sara (Ed) Cote; nieces, Diamond and Angelia; and nephews, James, Jeff, Travis, Hank and Lance.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Bratten; his maternal and paternal grandparents; 3 uncles and 4 aunts.
Brian had many close friends and was loved by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with dates and times posted here when they are finalized.
