Brian Budd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc. - Wesleyville on Aug. 1, 2023.
Brian Budd left our world on July 26, 2023, leaving us with memories of his infectious laugh and smiles. Brian was born in Erie PA on January 31, 1966, where he lived most of his life. He also resided in NYC, Pittsburgh, and Boston. He died of natural causes while reclining in his favorite chair alongside his cat, Teddy. Brian may best be known for his acerbic sense of humor; he always tried to make people laugh. His humor was unbounded from politeness or etiquette (that is, sometimes crude), but his intentions were always to bring amusement and laughter to whomever was in his presence.

A self-proclaimed ""smart-a##"", Brian enjoyed life almost to a fault and lived by the credo of Kurt Cobain's quote ""It's better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you're not.""

To most people, Brian always seemed happy, even after several harrowing surgeries and long recoveries. His resilience and humor elevated his spirit among life's many challenges.

Brian often brought his form of ""fun"" and added his own flavor to events. While vacationing on a cruise, he competed against fit, twenty-year-olds, in a ""sexy leg"" contest in which he took the ""Forever Runner Up"" prize after securing hundreds of votes from adoring and entertained onlookers.

Brian had a special fondness for animals and for those who were close to him. He easily made friends with strangers and had countless acquaintances. Along with his animals, Brian especially loved his nephew, Greg Budd, Jr., from Erie, as well as Blake, Byron, and Vivian Smith from Boston.

In addition to laughing and humor, Brian enjoyed his time alone equally as he did social camaraderie. He liked playing (loud) rock music, concerts, watching movies/TV, cooking, as well as good food and spirits. He particularly enjoyed playing game shows with his father, Gord, and watching football while speaking on the phone with his nephew, Byron.

Brian's mother and father, Georgette and Gordon Budd, and several pets predeceased him. Left to mourn are his brother, Greg Budd; along with his wife, Ann; and son, Greg Jr; sister, Maggi Budd and her children, Blake, Byron, and Vivian Smith; sister, Georgette Stucke and her husband Dave Stucke and their children, David and Jason; sister, Mary Johnson and her husband Larry, and their children, Larry and Louie; sister, Patti Matlock and her husband Bob, and their children, Bobby and Kevin; and several great nieces and nephews and many long-time friends.

Brian sang with a loud uninhibited spirit. In the words of Ozzy Osborne, we can hear Brian sing:
""I say goodbye to romance, yeah.
Goodbye to friends, I tell you.
Goodbye to all the past
I guess that we'll meet, we'll meet in the end.
I've been the king; I've been the clown.
Now broken wings can't hold me down.
I'm free again….""

I am overwhelmed with emotion at the flood of memories that came rushing forward upon hearing that Brian had passed away. We were all invincible back in the day and lived our lives like rock stars. As we grew older and our lives took us different directions I could always count on us takeing up where we left off no matter how much time had passed since we last saw one another
It is with a heavy heart that I say goodby old friend,I guess that we'll meet again on the other side
May you rest in peace and know you will never be forgotten

I wrote your obituary today and am a lost for words, yet my thoughts about you are rampant in my brain. Understandably, I have not experienced my life without you. Yet. Miss your existence more than you or I could have expected. XO bro. However, my heart knows that you always knew I would always be your person, no matter what. But it sucks for me right now. Love you Bri.
