Brian Budde Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home - Rochester on Feb. 4, 2025.
Brian James Budde, a dedicated public servant, beloved husband, and father, passed away on January 30, 2025, at the age of 53. Born on August 19, 1971, Brian's life was guided by strong Christian values with an unwavering commitment to family, friends, and his community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kerri, their two sons, Cole and Brian. His mother, Diana Budde (the late David Budde), siblings Lisa (Gary) Macks, Gina (Scott) Chamberlain, David Joseph Budde, brother in-law Micheal (Joleen) Lorens and his 4 nieces and 6 nephews, also mourns his loss. Family love and responsibility were central to Brian's life, and he was deeply devoted to those he held dear.
Brian served more than 30 years in law enforcement, first working with the Virginia State Police before dedicating 26.5 years to the Michigan State Police. Rising to the rank of Inspector, he led large teams while also earning the respect and admiration of colleagues nationwide. Brian never believed "it's not possible"; he was known for his belief "there is a solution to every problem," an attitude that inspired those around him and drove his excellence.
Seven months ago, Brian embarked on a new career in the private sector, supporting law enforcement with information technology. This transition reflected his ongoing commitment to public safety through innovative solutions and his desire to continue challenging himself.
Brian had a gift for bringing people together. His home was always open with an extra chair at the table for all to enjoy his expertly smoked meats with his favorite craft beers.
A passionate sports fan, he inherited his late father's (David A. Budde) love for the Detroit Lions and loved to share his enthusiasm for the team with all around him.
Brian annually cherished time hunting in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with friends, creating lifelong bonds. He looked forward to golfing with his sons and sharing in the joy of the game and the outdoors.
The family fondly remembers beach vacations filled with laughter, where Brian reveled in the simple pleasure of being surrounded by those he loved. He was always the last one on the beach, savoring the tranquility of waves until the sun set.
Beyond professional achievements and personal passions, Brian's sense of responsibility and humor left mark on everyone he met. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives he touched through his service and friendship.
