Brian Cfx Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home - Bardstown on Jan. 19, 2023.
Brother Brian Anthony Vetter, CFX died in the early morning at Baptist Health on January 14, 2023. He was born in 1943 in Louisville to Stewart and Bernadette Hattemer Vetter, who predeceased him.
Bro. Brian is a 1961 graduate of St. Xavier High School, and entered the Xaverian Brothers in 1964, and was a Xaverian Brother for 59 years. Following college education (BA from the University of Maryland and MA from Loyola College in Baltimore), Bro. Brian taught in Brooklyn, NY for two years and then served at Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore from 1970 until 1992.
In 1992, he began a long service in different missions in Bolivia until a semi-retirement in recent years where he still spent time ministering to migrants in El Paso, TX. Most recently, he fully retired but continued to assist migrants and refugees in the Louisville area along with helping to care for a family member.
Bro. Brian is survived by his sisters, Suzanne Wilcoxson and Sherry Burns and his brother Blaine and their families along with his Xaverian community, former students and colleagues.
A wake will take place Friday, the 20th of January from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at St. Xavier High School, followed by his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Bro. Brian will be buried in the Xavieran cemetery at St. Xavier High School following the Mass. May he rest in peace. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Xaverian Brothers at 211 West Oak Street, #919, Louisville, KY 40203.
