Brian K. Chilson

Brian Keith Chilson, 60, of Rapid City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024. He blessed this world with his presence on December 6, 1963, in Flint, Michigan to Donald J. Chilson and Opal L. (Martindale) Chilson. The family moved north in 1970 and Brian attended Elk Rapids High School, graduating in 1982. After graduation, he would attend a trade school which ushered in his 30+ year career owning and operating his own mechanic shop. Brian married the love of his life Christi (Woodcox) Chilson in Alden, MI on June 28th, 2014. Brian was a true outdoorsman; an avid hunter, passionate angler, camping enthusiast, and retired snowmobiler. Brian loved to mix his traveling with his hunting as well. Brian was many things to many people, but he will always be remembered for his willingness to help others, his giving spirit, and his love for his family and friends. Brian will be lovingly remembered by his wife Christi; mother Opal Chilson; sister Tamara Canterbury; Daughter Stephanie Hulett; Uncle John (Gisela) Chilson; Aunt Dolores Miller; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Chilson; Brother-in-law Bruce Canterbury; Uncle Thomas Miller; and loyal K9 companions Chance and Nellie. A funeral service for Brian will be held at Kalkaska Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, at 3:00 PM with Pastor Scott Bittenbender officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM until the time of service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
