Obituary
Brian Craig Conelley, of Ellicott City, MD, passed away on September 17, 2023, following a long year of health complications.
Brian was born on March 23, 1954, in Washington, D.C., to William Ross Conelley and Dorothy Brenneman Conelley, both now deceased. He is survived by one sister, Allison Campbell, and predeceased by one brother, Stephen Conelley.
Brian attended several schools in the DC and Maryland area, including Kennedy and Wheaton High Schools. He earned a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, and a Masters of Science in Information Systems from American University in 1997.
He served honorably in the United States Army for 10 years, retiring as a Captain in 1992. He served in a variety of roles and locations, including as a military police officer and a software engineer. He also worked as a civilian employee in the federal government for many years. He worked at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and as a program manager and branch chief at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. He retired in 2014.
After retirement, he fostered hobbies like building model train sets and racing remote control cars. He enjoyed seeing his family and taking his second wife, Thuy Huynh, and their dog Pepsi, on scenic drives. Brian was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Wright Conelley. He is survived by his son Russell Conelley, daughter-in-law Vilija Mickute, daughter Joanne Conelley and son-in-law Shayan Hobbi, as well as two grandchildren, Domantas Conelley and Sigita Conelley.
The family will receive friends at HARRY H. WITZKE'S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD on Saturday, October 7, from 2:30 to 3:30pm, with a Memorial Service beginning at 3:30pm. Interment is private.
