Brian Cordes Sr., 47, of East Dubuque, Illinois formerly of Rockford, Illinois and Loves Park, Illinois passed away suddenly on Sunday June 22, 2025. He was born on May 2, 1978 in Rockford to his parents Bruce Cordes and Christelle (Hagland) Cordes Maggio.
Brian was married to the love of his life, Christy Skahill. Brian had worked at Sprinkmann Sons and was a member of the Local 19 Heat & Frost Insulators. He was very proud to faithfully serve his country in the National Guard. Brian loved his children, Brian Jr., Marissa and step son Ethan. Brian also loved his pets, Roxie, Bubba and especially his cat, Junebug (Munchkin). His hobbies included woodworking, sewing, and heavy metal music. Brian was a long time loyal fan of the Chicago Blackhawks (Go Hawks!). Brian also loved camping and spending time with family at Lake Geneva and Laurderdale Lakes.
Brian is survived by his wife Christy, children Brian Cordes Jr., Marissa Cordes, stepson Ethan Aughenbaugh, his brother Jon Cordes, sister Rebeka (Shawn) Putnam, brother Anthony (Samantha) Maggio, grandpa Erick Haglund, mother-in-law Donna Johnson, father-in-law Larry Johnson, brother-in-law Scott Skahill and many uncles, aunts, nieces, and newphews.
Brian was predeceased by his father Bruce and mother Christelle, Grandma Betty Haglund and his beloved dog Brave.
A special thank you to the emergency room staff at MercyOne hospital in Dubuque for their loving care.
According the Brian's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be a private celebration of life with immediate family. Brian said the last thing he wanted was a bunch of people standing around crying and staring at him. Cremation services provided by Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home and Crematory.
Memorials can be sent directly to the family.
