Brian Downes Obituary

Brian was cherished in life as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his children, Ashley, Ryan, Brianne, and Michael; his grandchildren, Gigi and Stephany; his brother, James; and sisters, Ellen and Karen. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geralyn, and his brother, Kevin. He leaves behind many other loving family and friends.
Known for his hard work and extensive knowledge, Brian spent his days surrounded by friends and family, often found grilling or relaxing by his pool. His role as a Papa was filled with joy and love, always prioritizing moments that brought his family together.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10th from 4-8 PM and Thursday, July 11th for 10-10:30 at the Gormley Funeral Home, located at 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury, MA 02132. A celebration of life will be held at The Chateau Restaurant, 404 Boston-Providence Turnpike, Norwood, Ma 02062 on Thursday, July 11th 11:30 AM -3:30 PM.

Brian was a kind and friendly neighbor. Because of the long time of his living in the neighborhood, he told me things that I didn´t know about my house, across the street from his, and about the former longtime owners. When I became sick with an auto immune disease, he would stop to chat a bit about our own health issues and disabilities. I told him on one occasion that the next summer I would seat with him outside of his house to have a beer. I regret that life took away from us that opportunity. Rest in peace, Brian. We will keep the memories.
