Brian Robert DuBois, 62, of Redwood City, California, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023, from complications of injuries sustained in a bicycling accident. He is survived by his wife Jaymie, son Bret and daughter Alexis, of the home, brother Greg (Julie) DuBois of Worthington, OH, sister Linda (Rick) Moulton of Johnson City, TN, sister-in-law Kelly (Luis) Camacho of Gold Canyon, AZ, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Karen DuBois.
Brian was born July 8, 1960, in Bellaire, Ohio, the youngest of four children to Laurence Robert and Irene Milash DuBois. He spent his childhood in the small town of Woodsfield, Ohio, and graduated from Woodsfield High School where he was on the golf and basketball teams. He went on to receive a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. His early career moves took him to Georgia, Florida, Ohio, Arizona, and Illinois. Along the way, he met Jaymie in Cincinnati, and they were married in 1999 in Scottsdale, AZ. They eventually settled in Redwood City, CA where Bret and Alexis were born. Brian had an accomplished career in research and product development in the medical device field. He served in executive positions and holds numerous patents for his inventions over his career.
Brian had diverse interests and enjoyed many pursuits, mostly involving the outdoors, including bicycling, scuba diving, sailing, whitewater rafting, camping, hiking, bodysurfing, daily dad jokes, party games, Ohio State football, boy scout leadership, and coached many seasons through his kids' soccer and basketball teams. He earned his private pilot license, hiked up Half Dome, and visited 49 states and several foreign countries. He made lifelong friends during every stage of his journey, and liked to reminisce about their exploits together, many involving plans gone awry.
Brian was a devoted and loving husband and father, and his family was the greatest joy of his life, including his siblings, nieces, and nephews. He made his children's lives interesting and rich, helping them build character, courage, and a sense of adventure, while also investing in their academic and spiritual development.
Brian had a deep faith and was active in Peninsula Covenant Church in Redwood City. He took part in a weekly men's bible study that spent 20+ years together and volunteered in various ministries. His was a life well-lived and he was well-loved.
Brian will be forever remembered for his infectious smile, his service to others, his unfailing encouragement, his fun-loving nature, his great sense of humor, and for being wicked smart. Although his passing brings deep sadness, there is comfort in knowing that he lived a life filled with joy and that he is now in the presence of the Lord.
A life celebration service will be held at the Peninsula Covenant Church, June 24, 2023, @ 1:30 pm; "California Casual" attire
3560 Farm Hill Blvd., Redwood City, CA 94062
