Brian Joseph Gonyea Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 63 years old. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many who knew and loved his quick wit, boundless generosity, and unwavering fearlessness.
Brian's life was a testament to his deep love for his family. A master craftsman and proud mason, he poured his heart and soul into his work, leaving behind a legacy of quality and dedication. Driven from a young age, he found immense satisfaction in his skill and artistry. Beyond his professional achievements, his greatest joy was spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was a hands-on grandfather, sharing countless adventures with them - boating, fishing, kayaking, archery, axe throwing, camping, and four-wheeling. These moments brought him immense pride and happiness.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Dylan, a loss that deeply touched his heart. Brian leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Tyler, Tory, Cailey, Kiley, Joshua, Billy, Little Richie, Cayden, Chase, Mason, and Gunner.
Known affectionately as "Big Bri" by his close friends, he was a pillar of his community, cherished for his companionship and unwavering loyalty. He treasured the enduring bonds with his lifelong friends, who held a special place in his life.
Brian leaves behind his devoted wife of 45 years, Diane Gonyea, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. He is also survived by his siblings, Glen Beaulieu, and Gary Beaulieu and his wife DeDe; his children, Brian Gonyea Jr., Shirley, Katie Gonyea, and Richard Gonyea; and his eleven cherished grandchildren.
A celebration of Brian's life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the American Legion Spear Post, 3 Judson Street, Beverly, MA 01915. All who knew and loved Brian are welcome to attend and share their memories. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
