Brian Preston Haun, 66, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in Austin, Texas. A graveside service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Cross Cut Cemetery, 8 miles south of Cross Plains, Texas, with Rev. Dale Wilbanks, from the First Methodist Church of Eastland, officiating.

Brian was born in Eastland on December 23, 1958, to R.P. 'Buddy' Haun, Jr. and Imogene Newton Haun. He is survived by his sister, Ann Haun Folsom and husband, Al; niece, Gardner Folsom Mack and husband, Will; nephew, Maury Folsom; and a great-nephew and great-niece. He is also survived by one aunt, Jane Haun Steakley and husband, Len; sixteen first cousins and their families; and many cherished lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.P. 'Buddy' Haun, Jr. and Imogene Newton Haun; grandparents, Lewis and Ina Chambers Newton and R.P. and Marian Thomson Haun; numerous aunts and uncles on both sides of the family; and one first cousin, Robert Newton.

Brian was a talented athlete who excelled in many sports. He began with Little League baseball as a member of the Minor league 'Lions' and went on to play as a left-handed pitcher and first baseman in the Majors, Pony League and Senior League. He was also an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and participated in the Eastland Methodist Youth Fellowship.

He graduated from Eastland High School in 1977, where he served as president of his senior class and was a member of the Beta Club. In Jr. High and High School, he played football, basketball, golf, and ran track. He was a regional qualifier in track and earned all-district honors in football.

Brian attended Texas Tech University and the Dallas Art Institute before graduating from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in Graphic Arts and Industrial Education. He later moved to Austin, where he built a career as a commercial CAD draftsman and industrial designer, making the city his home for the past 40 years.

He was an avid hunter and shared that passion with his dad from a very early age. Brian was a gifted artist and could draw and design almost anything, a talent always attributed to his paternal grandmother, Marian Gardner Thomson Haun.

Brian had a kind heart, loved his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made to First Methodist Church of Eastland, the Majestic Theatre of Eastland, or ‘The Other Ones Foundation “ in Austin, www.toofound.org.
